Michael
Van Manen, DO
Fellowship Trained and Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon
As a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Van Manen’s current practice emphasizes the treatment of knee and hip disease, including treatment for severe arthritis ranging from Total Joint Replacement to other nonoperative, noninvasive treatment options.
Dr. Van Manen is a native of Pueblo Colorado. Following his orthopaedic residency training, Dr. Van Manen immediately went into active duty with the US Navy and was stationed in California. He spent 4 years at Navy Hospital Twentynine Palms serving as an orthopaedic surgeon taking care of Marines and Sailors. At the end of his tour, he quickly gained leadership roles serving both as Chief of Surgery and Department Head of the General Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgical Department. When his military commitment ended, he decided to move back to his hometown of Pueblo, Co to serve his family and friends. Living in the Rocky Mountains, he very much enjoys a very active lifestyle with his wife and kids. He has enjoyed serving his hometown the past four years and has decided to expand his reach by joining the Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group.
My practice emphasis is the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee and hip. At the initiation of care, we take our time in treating the whole person, not just their diseased hip and/or knee. I want to educate and guide our patients through all options of treatment that are uniquely tailored to them. This could include total joint replacement which can be a life-changing event for most patients.
Our approach is to guide them through every step of the way with this decision. Providing our patients with proper expectation management, communication, optimization techniques and surgical skill to maximize their outcome and to get them back to the game of life.
